Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions

to boost researcher’s career

This programme enables researchers to move across borders and connect with different sectors and disciplines. It also supports the development of excellent training programmes for doctoral students and postdocs as well as cooperative research projects worldwide.

The Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) consist of five types of actions:

  • Doctoral Networks – for the implementation of doctoral programmes through partnerships of organisations from different sectors across Europe and beyond in order to train highly qualified doctoral students, stimulate their creativity, improve their innovative capacity and increase their employability in the long term.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) - to support the careers of researchers and to promote excellence in research. It is aimed at researchers with a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills and develop their careers.
  • Staff Exchanges (SE) - funds short-term international and cross-sectoral exchanges of staff involved in research and innovation activities of participating organisations (such as SMEs).
  • COFUND - funding for regional, national and international training and career development programmes through co-funding mechanisms.
  • MSCA and Citizens: The aim of this action is to bring research and researchers closer to the general public, with a particular focus on families, pupils and students. This is done by organising the European Researchers' Night, an event to communicate and promote research, which takes place in all EU Member States and countries associated with Horizon Europe.
